Former EPA Administrator Visits Cambrian Innovation

William “Bill” Reilly, former administrator of the EPA, recently visited Cambrian Innovation’s demonstration facility in California.  Mr. Reilly was the Agency’s administrator from 1989 – 1993, representing the United States at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit and playing an instrumental role in the acid rain control provisions of the Clean Air Act.  He visited California site for a firsthand view of the company’s deployment of a novel wastewater treatment system, EcoVolt.

The EcoVolt Bioelectric Treatment system leverages a process called “electromethanogenesis”, in which microbes consume electric current and carbon dioxide to generate a high quality methane stream for use in a boiler or combined heat and power system.  An EcoVolt installation will help industrial customers monetize the resources in their waste streams while also significantly cutting carbon dioxide emissions.
