Boston, MA (May 1, 2012) – Cambrian Innovation Inc., an environmental product development company, today announced the addition of Ian A. Bowles to its Board of Advisors. Bowles brings 20 years of experience in the energy and environmental sectors. As Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 2007 to 2011, Bowles oversaw the landmark restructuring of six agencies with more than 3,000 staff focusing on clean energy commercialization, greenhouse gas reduction and environmental quality.
“Cambrian Innovation is making rapid progress in our mission to commercialize a portfolio of next-generation environmental monitoring and treatment technologies, and we’re delighted to have Ian’s help as an advisor,” said Dr. Matthew Silver, CEO of Cambrian Innovation. “Ian cares deeply about sustainability and is simply one of the most knowledgeable and talented members of the U.S. Clean Tech community.”
Bowles will help Cambrian Innovation solve problems at the water/energy nexus by developing, scaling and commercializing the company’s platform of next-generation environmental products. His numerous contributions to the cleantech sector include chairman of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority and the top energy official in Massachusetts, giving him unique insight into the issues surrounding Cambrian Innovation’s focus: water resources and energy.
“There is a critical and growing need for new, cost-effective solutions to address major challenges in sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure around the world,” said Bowles. “Cambrian Innovation’s leading edge technology has the potential to be a highly disruptive market solution.”
Bowles has previously served in the Clinton Administration as associate director of the White House Council on Environmental Quality and as senior director of the Global Environmental Affairs directorate at the National Security Council. As Vice President of Conservation International, a leading national conservation organization, Bowles played a key role in the creation of the Central Suriname Nature Reserve- one of the world’s largest tropical forest national parks with four million acres.
